could twitter help in effort to find BC non-profits in need of funding?

I am pretty new to Twitter, and thought I would ask if anyone in this group had any ideas about how whether (and how) Twitter could be used in my effort to find non-profit groups in British Columbia that are looking for new funding sources?

I am working with a new company that needs to select groups throughout the province which are in need of additional financial resources amongst which to divvy up approximately $19 million annually. We are looking for youth sports, hospices, arts councils, parent & teacher associations, or anyone else who may be interested in raising funds.

We raise this money through a network of participating auto-repair shops which agree to donate 3% of every bill to charities in their communities. We are currently doing fund raising in the lower mainland but will be going across the rest of the province in the spring.

Ultimately, we want groups that are interested in receiving funds to fill out our funding application form (http://bit.ly/7URKqE).

Is this something that Twitter would be good for? I haven't been able to find many on-line non-profit communities focused on British Columbia to reach out to, so I am thinking that maybe Twitter is something that could work.

Thanks,
Michael
